TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indo Barometer executive director M. Qodari said that he deplored the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle’s (PDI-P) decision to exclude potential cadres, such as Maurarar Sirait, Rieke Diah Pitaloka and Eva Kusuma Sundari, from the party’s central executive board.

“It’s a pity. They are potential and hardworking young cadres who built the party,” Qodari said on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in Jakarta.

According to Qodari, Maurarar and RIeke had been the key vote getters for PDI-P in their respective electoral districts.

“Both are creative figures in attracting volunteers and young votes for the party,” Qodari added.

Boni Hargens, a political observer from the University of Indonesia also deplored PDI-P chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri’s decision to exclude Maurarar Sirait from the party’s central executive board.

“If Maurarar, Eva and others who have the potential are excluded, it’s questionable,” Boni said.

Boni admitted that he had no prejudice toward the PDI-P’s decision.

“I’m not suspecting anything. But Maurarar and Eva are ot government officials. Why were they not appointed [as the party’s central executive board]?” he added.

Maurarar served as PDI-P’s head of youth and sports division for the periods of 2005-2010 and 2010-2015. Currently he sits as a member of the House of Representatives. Megawati appointed Sukur Nababan as PDI-P’s head of youth and sports in the last national congress of the PDI-P in Bali.
