TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Japanese oil and gas company, Japan Gas Corporation (JGC), plans to build a 1,000-megawatt (MW) power plant for the 35,000-MW national mega power plant project, according to Director Emeritus of JGC Yoshihiro Shigehisa.

"I hope that out of the 35,000-MW project in Indonesia, we can build a 1,000-MW plant. All the materials required will be sourced from here," Shigehisa said after meeting with Vice-President Jusuf Kalla as quoted by Antara News.

JGC is looking for Indonesian partners to realize the construction project. "We will set up a new company here and look for Indonesian partners," Shigesha stated, adding that natural resources, such as coal, that will be required for the construction will be sourced from Indonesian mining companies.

The Vice-President's expert team member for economy, Sofjan Wanandi, remarked that JGC will be expanding its business in electrical energy by constructing power plants in the eastern part of Indonesia. "They will use our coal, including some low quality ones, to produce oil and electricity. They want to involve in our national development programs by constructing a 1,000-MW power plant," Sofjan added.
