TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The government will increase debt through the issuance of Government Securities (SBN) worth Rp31 trillion in 2015. According to the Director General of Debt Management, Ministry of Finance, Robert Pakpakhan, the additional debt will be used as equity capital (PMN) for infrastructure state-owned enterprises.
Robert said the government is targeting to issue government securities worth up to Rp460 trillion, but the need for funding increased over the high cost of infrastructure development. In the 2015 State Budget, PMN target is set at Rp7.32 trillion. With the additional funding from the SBN issuance, the PMN injection becomes Rp37 trillion, which will be posted in the 2015 State Budget Amendment.
To pursue the target, Robert said the government will optimize funding resources by cooperating with several parties. The Ministry of Finance is mulling to raise its SBN portion, denominated in foreign currencies, as rupiah bonds need to be reduced to maintain liquidity.
