TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Real Madrid are close on winning th Club World Cup 2014 after crushing Central America representative Cruz Azul 4-0. The European champion booked four goals, courtesy of Sergio Ramos, Karim Benzema, Isco, and Gareth Bale.
Los Merengues, now stepping in the final round, will face either South American contender San Lorenzo or Oceania challenger Auckland City.
As for Madrid, the result extends their victory run to be 21 consecutive matches. Speaking for his club, skipper Iker Cassilas said it was not easy to come up with such record. However, he said they would have to humbly accept a draw or defeat sometime in the future.
Casillas himself played an important role against Cruz Azul, cancelling Gerardo Torrado’s penalty in the 40th. It was Casillas’s 15th penalty saved in Madrid.
