TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chelsea scored a brilliant comeback after suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend against Newcastle. Playing in Stamford Bridge in the final group match of the Champions League, Chelsea defeated Sporting Lisbon 3-1.

Chelsea, having been crowned as group champion, dominated the match by scoring the first goal of the match from Cesc Fabregas' foot followed by Andre Schuerrle who widen the Blues' lead 16 minutes into the match.

In the second half, Sporting managed to score a through Jonathan Cristian Silva. However, Chelsea sealed their victory with a third goal from John Obi Mikel in the 56th minute.

The defeat came as a nightmare for Sporting Lisbon, as Schalke managed to defeat Maribor another group match. In the end, it was Schalke that is eligible to proceed to the knock out round as group runner up.
