TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - World well-known scientist Stephen Hawking reminded that advance science, such as artificial intelligence, can end up teminating human race. Speaking to BBC, Hawking warned the danger of artificial intelligence.

"The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race," says the scientist.

Professor Hawking said that artificial intelligence has turned out to be much of an advantage to mankind. However, he predicts that the technology can exceed the human brain ability, which is slowing down in terms of evolution. Hawking added that the mankind, limited by biological evolution, will be left behind eventually.

On the other hand, other scientists believe that AI beyond human intelligence will not be manifested in a close period of time. Rollo Carpenter, scientist known for creating software that can predict human conversation flow, claimed that mankind will rule over AI for a long time before it could happen. He also agreed AI is a positive development in both science and technology.
