Nine People Dead in Raqa Bombing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Nine civilians - which includes one woman - have been killed by an airstrike launched by the Syrian government on Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at the city of Raqa, which is considered as a stronghold for hardline Islamist fighters from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Observatory further said that four women and a child are among the 16 civilian who were injured by the bombing in Raqa, which is also being targeted by airstrikes led by the United States (US) and members of its' military coalition.
It has been reported that the Syrian regime is increasing the intensity of airstrikes over a number of Syrian cities and towns that had been taken over by ISIS rebels, as well as rebels from other militant groups.
According to the United Kingdom (UK) based Observatory, which relies on activists and medical staffers on the ground to gather information of the current situation, the Syrian government air force have engaged in 1,600 airstrikes since October 20. Around 369 civilians, including 109 children, have been killed since their airstrikes began, reported AFP.
