Public Discontented with Jokowi's Cabinet

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Rully Akbar, a researcher from Jakarta-based pollster the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI), said that the majority of the public were unhappy with President Joko Widodo’s Cabinet lineup, saying the selection was thick with political negotiations.
The statement was based on the opinions of 52.86 percent of the total respondents, who said that many ministers hailed from political parties and lacked the necessary knowledge to run their ministries. A total of 29.56 percent of the respondents, however, said Jokowi had made the right choice.
Rully said most of the respondents were also calling on the president to be firm with his ministers. “The people want Jokowi to conduct a Cabinet reshuffle if his ministers perform poorly in the next six months,” he said on Thursday, October 30, 2014.
He added 58.68 percent of the respondents hoped that the president would reshuffle his Cabinet, while 23.35 percent said a Cabinet reshuffle was unnecessary. “There are already ministers who received warnings from the Eradication Corruption Commission (KPK). However, Jokowi still appointed them due to their proximity to Megawati,” Rully said.
