TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - FIFA president Sepp Blatter has acknowledged the decision to give Lionel Messi the Golden Ball at the World Cup was incorrect. Golden Ball is an award handed to the tournament’s best player.

Messi performed impressively, early in the competition, making a decisive impact in games for Argentina before fading and producing weaker performances with each passing game.

Blatter, who was in Moscow for the official presentation of the World Cup 2018 logo, said “I think the decision was an incorrect one. I was surprised when I received the decision that had been decided by the committee. They told me that they only considered ten players that played in the final between Germany and Argentina.”

Blatter thought Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer should have received the award, the 101greatgoals.com reported.
