TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor deputy mayor Nurhayanti said her administration has requested Rp100 billion (US$8.3 million) assistance money to be used in preventing flood in upstream areas and to mitigate flood in Jakarta.
“We have requested Rp100 billion to the Jakarta administration. But I don’t know the details,” Nurhayanti told Tempo on Wednesday, October 29, 2014.
Nurhayanti explained the fund will be allocated to restore upstream areas, such as Puncak, to mitigate floods in Jakarta. The restoration efforts include creating biopores, bioretention and tree planting.
“We will also use the fund to normalize and dredge 23 lakes in watershed areas, Ciliwung and Cisadane,” she said.
According to Nurhayanti, the 23 lakes are parts of 83 lakes in Bogor that are managed by the Bogor administration, as authorized by the Public Works Ministry.
Nurhayanti said the Jakarta administration has provided Rp4 billion (US$330,000) for Bogor administration to create biopores and bioretention in Puncak.
