TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Acting Governor Basuki 'Ahok' Tjahaja Purnama stated to resign if Muhammad Taufik is named Governor. Ahok said the Deputy of the Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council was ambitious to become the governor. "Taufik is great, he’s trying to find a loophole so Ahok will remain Deputy Governor so later on my Governor will be Taufik," Ahok said at the City Hall yesterday.

If Taufik is inaugurated to be the Governor, Ahok will return to his home in Bangka Belitung. "I choose to quit," Ahok said.

Gerindra, said Ahok, has a partial interpretation about the Government Regulation in Substitute of Law (perpu) No. 1 Year 2014 on the Changes in Local Elections. In the regulation, Gerindra only interpreted Article 173. "Their interpretation is that if a Governor resigns, the deputy will not be promoted and the governor will be choosen by the Regional People’s Representative Council." Whereas in the Government Regulation in Substitute of Law reads Article 203 that says if a governor is substituted, the deputy will automatically replace the position.

Rather than arguing about the law interpretation, Ahok prefers to work. "Nothing o discuss, I don’t want to think about it."
