TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Vice President Jusuf “JK” Kalla confirmed that his cabinet lineup would be announced at the State Palace, dismissing rumors that he and President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo would announce the ministers' names at other locations.
“Just like the old tradition, [the announcement] will be done at the [State] Palace,” JK said on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
Earlier, President Jokowi and Vice President Jusuf Kalla were planning to announce the ministers' names at Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. However, the plan was scrapped in light of warnings on some of the ministerial candidates by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
JK revealed that he and Jokowi needed to discuss the names and reconsider the seat allocation for the United Development Party (PPP) that recently jumped ship from the Prabowo-led Red and White coalition. JK was also non-committal as to when the cabinet lineup would be made public.
