TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Danny Welbeck's hat-trick in a 4-1 thrashing of Galatasaray helped ignite Arsenal's Champions League campaign. The England striker scored twice before halftime and again after the break. Alexis Sanchez ended the match with one more goal coallection.
Galatasaray, playing in Arsenal's ground Emirates Stadium, could only score one goal from Burak Yilmaz’s penalty, following a second-half red card for Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, who was celebrating his 18th career anniversary with the North Londoners praised Welbeck. "Hopefully this hat-trick will help him start to gain confidence," the Frenchman told reporters.
Arsenal now sit second in the table, collecting 3 points. On top of the table was Dortmund, having packed two victories over Arsenal and Anderlecht.
