Ruhut Sitompul: Let Us Support SBY's Perpu
Rabu, 1 Oktober 2014 17:46 WIB
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Democrat Politician Ruhut Sitompul said that the notion of issuing the Government Regulation in Lieu of Law (Perpu) is a personal stance from President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) so that the local election remains direct from the people. "This is not an image politics because SBY has, since the beginning wanted a public election under ten terms," Ruhut told Tempo .
Previously, SBY said to issue ‘Perpu’ to cancel the Local Election Bill. Perpu issuance is the right of a president, as regulated in Article 22 of the Constitution. However, Perpu must also be approved by the House.
"It is a sincere gesture from Mr. SBY that we must appreciate in the end of his term," said Ruhut. Therefore, Ruhut expects that the people support SBY for the Perpu. "Let us support SBY, as it is for the greater good,” he said.
