TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Euphoria over the release of iPhone 6 and 6 Plus has been smeared with negative news about the iPhone 6 gone bent when carried in the pocket. Apple finally confirmed the news but saying that the case would be 'rare'. So, is the blame really on Apple?

Newsweek reported Friday, that Apple has given clear instructions about the proper storage for its iPhone. In the manual for the iPhone 5, Apple says users should carry their iPhones 10 milimeters (or 0.39 inches) away from their bodies at all times. That means, if the device is in the pocket, it has infringed the 'warning' given by Apple.

The warning is provided in view of radiation of energy wave that may exceed threshold value during the body-worn operation. The heat of the radiation is known to cause DNA which is related to cancer growth.

"My personal sense is that the evidence for increases in cancer is quite strong. It’s not one hundred percent, but most studies have shown that [people with] high exposures have elevations in leukemia, brain cancers [and] some other kinds of cancers," said Dr. David Carpenter, the director of the Institute for Health and the Environment University at Albany, New York, as quoted by Newsweek.

BlackBerry has also given the similar warning regarding the safety measure on phone storage. In its manual, BlackBerry suggests the safe distance between phone and users' body is at least 0.98 inches.
