TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - List of names for ministerial candidates in the government of Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf 'JK' Kalla will have a great impact on the market since people have high expectations towards the candidates proposed by the president-elect. "Jokowi and JK always say there will be changes and mental revolution. The market hopes they all can be reflected in the cabinet composition," said Destry Damayanti, economic observer at Bank Mandiri yesterday.

The cabinet composition chosen by Jokowi-JK will show how both are committed to make significant changes. People prefer more professionals in Jokowi’s cabinet for it shows Jokowi-JK’s seriousness in using the people’s trust in serving the country.

If the cabinet composition does not meet people’s expectations, it will receive negative responses from investors. According to Destry, domestic and foreign markets have equal power.

Destry asked Jokowi-JK to no longer make impossible promises because they will affect the market. Even so, investors tend to wait for assurance from government’s decision in the cabinet announcement later.

Economic observer Riza Priyambda previously said the JCI will likely strengthen significantly when Jokowi announces the cabinet composition if it meets the market’s expectation. However, he could not yet predict the exact number as stock movement is still varied.
