TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Local digital application manufacturer Advan is colaborating with Trend Micro, the biggest anti virus company in Asia, to develop latest anti virus. The anti virus, named Dr. Safety is claimed to be able to repel harmful application on smartphones, especially Android-based phones.

"Cyber criminals have started to aim attacks to smartphone users through free applications and game," said Terrence Tang, a Senior Director of Consumer Business of Trend Micro, in the press conference in Cafe Bene, South Jakarta, Thursday.

People in Indonesia have been more relying on internet connections available on smartphones to do various activities including data access, social media, and mobile banking, said Tang. This kind of life data-style is prone to cyber crime.

Andrew Tang, the Trend Micro Marketing Manager of Consumer Business said that 'intruder' threatens every two seconds. According to Tang, 51 percent of Indonesian smartphone users have downloaded harmful apps during 2014.

Dr. Safety is claimed to be able to protect users from such malwares and other forms of virus. With its 100 percent detection percentage, Tang said, the anti virus secures users' privacy and increases gadget performance by 30 percent.

Dr. Safety has been planted on 20 types of Advan products. "Anti virus is automatically installed when purchasing Advan products, no need to download," said Tjandra Lianto, the Marketing Director of Advan.
