TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Bogor administration plans on issuing a set of restrictions on vehicles entering the city’s main streets, among them a policy of “a day without B license plates (vehicles from Jakarta).”
“The mayor has programs and plans about a day without vehicles with B license plates, affecting those belonging to Bogor residents and outsiders alike,” Usman Hariman, the Bogor Deputy Mayor, told reporters on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Usman said the policy aimed at alleviating the worsening congestion in the city. “The issuance of this policy should be facilitated by the operations of public transportation, including the APTB (integrated bus network), and others,” he said.
Usman added the implementation of this policy would be overseen by the Acceleration Management of Development Priority team that had been formed by Bogor Mayor Bima Arya.
“The dissemination of information about this policy will be carried out in 2015, and this policy will affect both Bogor residents and those from Jakarta,” he said.
Usman added this policy would bar vehicles with B license plates from entering Bogor at weekends. “Parking facilities will be constructed, so that residents of Bogor and Jakarta heading towards Jakarta or Bogor could park their vehicles at one of the facilities, then they can continue their trips by public transportation,” he said.
