TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iwan Nurdin, Secretary General for the Consortium for Agrarian Reform (KPA), said that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's government is unable to solve agrarian disputes during his 10-year term.

"SBY can only manage without solving agrarian conflicts," said Iwan on Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

He said that during SBY’s term, the number of agrarian disputes are increasing up to 1,391 cases across Indonesia with a total of 5,711,396 hectares disputed areas. From those numbers, around 926,700 households were subject to unfair treatment and prolonged conflicts.

"Lands of the people were forcibly seized for plantations and mining," said Iwan.

Based on KPA's record, there are 536 disputes related to the plantation sector, 90 disputes related to the mining sector, 140 disputes in the forestry sector, and 23 disputes related to the agricultural sector.
