TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The second half of 2014 will see the groundbreaking of 132 projects included in the Economic Acceleration and Expansion Masterplan (MP3EI). The entire projects' are estimated to have an investment worth of Rp443.5 trillion.

"[The value] is quite large because some projects are carry-overs and they are strategic infrastructure projects of great value," Minister of National Development Planning Armida Alisjahbana said in Jakarta yesterday.

Armida, who is also and chief of the National Development Planning Agency, said that a number of strategic projects that will commence in the second half include the construction of a 2x1,000 MW steam power plant in Batang, Central Java.

Armida hopes the new government will continue with the MP3EI program, as most of them they comprise of long-term infrastructure projects. "A lot of the projects are strategic infrastructure projects. They have gone through groundbreaking; if we do not execute the programs it will be our loss," he said.
