TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- Chief of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Suryamin said that in the period of January 2014 to July 2014, there was an increase in the number of foreign tourists to compared to the same period last year. The total number of foreign tourists who visited Indonesia has reached 5,33 million, 9.37 percent higher compared to last year. "Last year, there were only 4,87 million [foreign] tourists who visited Indonesia," Suryamin said in his office on Monday, September 2, 2014.
The total number of foreign tourists who visited Indonesia in July 2014 alone had reached 777,200 people, 8.28 percent higher compared to last year, which only 717,800 people.
Suryamin said that Lombok is one of the region most often visited by foreign tourists. The total number of tourists who visited Lombok from January 2014 to July 2014, increased by 171.18 percent compared to the same period last year.
