TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A former Apple employee named Sam Sung has raised more than US$2,500 or Rp29 million for charity by auctioning his old business card.
Sung is a 25-year-old Canadian and of South Korean descent and worked for three years as a specialist at the Pacific Centre Apple store in Vancouver, where customers could not help but smile every time they saw his name on his employee card and shirt as his name is similar to the South Korean gadget brand which is Apple’s rival.
After he stopped working at the shop, Sung decided to auction his business card on eBay in order to raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation.
The card was eventually sold for US$2,653 or Rp31 million, with the winner also received his old uniform and lanyard.
“I'm so pleased at the amount that was raised and, according to Children's Wish, anything over $2,000 is considered a major gift. So for me, that's a major win and it will go towards granting a terminally ill child's wish,” said Sung.
