TEMPO.CO, Denpasar - The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri had reminded Jokowi to keep his promise to the people in Bali. The president-elect Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has said that should he received votes over 70 percent for the Jokowi-JK pair, Bali would be the first region he would visit.
"I'd been reminded three times by Bu Mega," he said in front of approximately 2,000 supporters in Denpasar, Bali, Saturday.
Jokowi said it was a giant victory in Bali and could not imagine if he lost. Jokowi was assured by Megawati that the people in Bali would try their best to ensure his victory.
In line with Jokowi, Megawati did not expect the Balinese people's zest in taking part in the general election. Balinese people, she said, are very friendly and kind-hearted. However, she reminded not to ever 'challenge' them. "The challenge was accepted. That is why we won by 71 percent. This is the result, Mr. Jokowi," said the fifth Indonesian president.
