Jakarta DPR Speaker to be Elected in September

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Member of the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), Triwisaksana, said the process to elect Jakarta DPRD Speaker and members of boards and factions within the regional will be completed by mid-September 2014.


Currently, DPRD has only formed a team to formulate regulations of the Council. The team consists of 30 people from representatives of political parties in the regional parliament.


"In the next two weeks, the permanent Jakarta DPR Speaker will be elected," Triwisaksana said yesterday, adding that the team has convened two meetings, along with the temporary Jakarta DPRD Speaker Jhonny Simanjuntak.


The meeting endorsed a schedule for the follow-up meetings and mechanism to set up factions and to vote for the permanent Jakarta DPRD Speaker.


Triwisaksana said the elected Jakarta DPRD Speaker and his/her deputy will chair a meeting to form commissions and boards.


Triwisaksana has also estimated that all processes will be dynamic given the lobbies among political parties regarding chairman in each commissions and board.
