TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Agency's boat has exploded in the waters of Thousand Islands yesterday. It was set on fire when transporting passengers from Sekati Busing to Pramuka Island, said the Thousands Islands Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Johanson Ronald Simamora.
"The middle part of the boat exploded, burning 10 people. Currently, they are being treated at Pramuka Island Hospital," Johanson told Tempo yesterday.
The boat was carrying 62 passengers and 11 crews from Kali Adem Harbor, North Jakarta, at 8.30 a.m, heading to Pari, Lancang, Pramuka and Kelapa.
Thirty-eight passengers were on board, heading to Pramuka and Kelapa Islands, when the boat was set ablaze.
