TEMPO.CO, Johannesburt – The South African government has banned incomers from Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. Travelling to West African countries is also forbidden as ebola outbreak has become more rampant.
"South African nationals will be allowed to re-enter the country when returning from high-risk countries, but will undergo strict screening,” the health ministry was quoted as saying by BBC News on Thursday.
Senegal also said it was suspending flights to Ebola-affected countries and shut its border with Guinea after the virus reached the capital Conakry.
Several airlines such as British Airways and Emirates Airlines have suspended flights to several Ebola-affected countries, despite World Health Organization warnings not to.
Meanwhile, the African Union is planning to send a special team to the four affected countries. This six-month-long operation will involve volunteer doctors, nurses and medical personnel. The operation will cost about US$25 million (Rp293 billion).
