Soekarno-Hatta Airport Screens Passengers for Ebola
Rabu, 13 Agustus 2014 13:52 WIB
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that more than 1,000 deaths have been recorded since the Ebola virus outbreak occurred last February. Majority of the casualties were recorded in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone with a total of more than 1,848 people infected.
In Tangerang, Banten, the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Class I Health Office (KKP) has increased their awareness by taking extra measures including screening for sick and infected patients, operating thermo scanners, and increasing the number of health officials stationed at the airport terminals.
"Although there are no planes flying directly from [Ebola-infected] countries, our main concern is the sick passengers," said Oenedo Gumarang, Head of the KKP to Tempo yesterday.
