TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Thailand's ousted Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has returned to the country after leaving on vacations to Europe and the United States amidst the country's political turmoil. Previously, Thai media was rife with the speculation that Yingluck is planning to leave Thailand on a self-imposed exile to avoid the corruption charges made against her following the coup.

Bangkok Post reported that Yingluck, who was the sister of former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, arrived on her private jet at Don Mueang Airport from Singapore on Sunday, August 10 of 2014. Yingluck quickly departed the concourse via a private entrance to avoid further media scrutiny.

Yingluck, who had been previously slapped with a travel ban for her role in a corruption scandal, was granted permission to leave the country on July 23, 2014. During that time, she visited Thaksin in Paris to celebrate his 65th birthday on July 26, and the siblings spent some time in Singapore before Yingluck returned to Thailand.
