TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Volkswagen AG is recalling 189,490 units of SUV purchased by its consumers in Unites States and Canada. As reported by Reuters, the action was taken for the potential problems in the fuel system that may lead to stalling and even accident.
VW said to recall the SUVs made during the period of 2009 to 2014 as the models are using winterized fuel with high vapor pressures. When the system is used in warmer areas or during months with higher temperatures, gas bubbles may form in the fuel system in the affected vehicles.
However, the German car-maker said no accident or injuries related to the issue had been reported. Dealers will install revised electronic control module software on all affected vehicles at no cost. The recall is expected to begin later this month, a spokeswoman said.
The company said 151,389 of the affected vehicles were sold in the United States and 38,101 in Canada, while no other markets were affected by the recall.
