TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A soldier from the Indonesian Army (TNI) has been suspected of extorting Indonesian migrant workers at Soekarno-Hatta airport. The suspect will be firmly dealt with by the military. TNI spokesman Fuad Basya said they will investigate the soldier who had been investigated before by the Jakarta Metro Police.

“We will definitely take action, it will be immediately dealt with,” he said when contacted by Tempo. “We will look at his level of mistake. Then we will decide the right punishment,” he said.

He said the TNI and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had signed an agreement in dealing with the soldier. “We indeed have an agreement with the KPK, we will investigate (the perpetrator) first, if he needs to be checked by the KPK, he certainly will be handed over to the commission,” he uttered.
