TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Functional Group Party’s (Golkar) Deputy Chairman Agung Laksono has called on the party members to accept the presidential vote tally results announced by the General Election Commission (KPU). Agung said yesterday that Golkar must congratulate Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo and Jusuf 'JK' Kalla as the elected president and vice president.
The comment was made as a response to a rumor saying that some figures of the party, including Akbar Tanjung, had encouraged Prabowo Subianto to reject KPU’s recapitulation. Agung also said that public and the government wanted a peaceful presidential election that Golkar must accept the recapitulation results.
The deputy chair said to have no knowledge about the story behind Prabowo’s refusal to accept the election results. He refused to confirm that Prabowo’s rejection was Akbar’s idea.
"I don't know the reason [of the rejection]. I haven’t spoken to Akbar," Agung said.
Agung predicted that Prabowo had made a consideration to make the suggestion to his political stance. He suspected that findings and claims related to massive and systemic fraud in the election had become his consideration to reject KPU’s recapitulation.
