TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Libya’s unstable political condition has forced the Philippines government to evacuate its people from Libya. On Sunday, the Philippines ordered evacuation of every Filipino in Libya.
According to Xinhua news agency, the Philippines government has declared Alert Level 4 in Libya, the highest crisis level to be imposed on countries experiencing a civil war or armed conflict.
According to Philippines’ Department of Foreign Affairs, some 13,000 Filipinos will be evacuated from Libya as soon as possible. The department has also banned Filipinos from travelling and becoming workers in Libya.
Filipinos in Libya mostly work as construction and health workers. They have been asked to contact the Philippines Embassy in Tripoli for instructions regarding mass evacution.
