TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has denied foreign intervention in the 2014 presidential election and asked all government agencies and the people to take part in thoroughly supervising the election process.

"Everything that happens in the country, we solve them by ourselves. It's more noble and honorable," said SBY on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

SBY claimed that he is capable of mediating the dispute between both presidential candidates. He said that his neutral position enables him to act as a facilitator in creating an agreement and understanding between both candidates.

SBY also gave example on the settlement of political dispute in Afghanistan that requires foreign intervention. According to SBY, the recent political dispute in Afghanistan, which was related to the country's presidential election, calls for the presence of the United States Secretary of State John Kerry as a mediator, and to audit the Afghanistan election commission.

SBY admitted that he had received questions from United Nations secretary-general Ban Ki-moon regarding the situation and problems in Indonesia following the presidential election. SBY responded by claiming that Indonesia is capable in dealing with all internal dynamics.

Issues regarding foreign intervention was raised after several media reported a planned visit by former US President Bill Clinton prior to the announcement of the final result of the 2014 presidential election. The General Election Commission (KPU) accused Clinton's visit as a form of foreign intervention.
