TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto said that the Indonesian government has agreed to help the Palestinian government with US$1 million worth of humanitarian aid following the Israeli military offensive on Gaza Strip.

“The form of the assistance will depend on the results of talks between Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa and Palestinian representatives,” Djoko said at the presidential office on Friday, July 11, 2014.

Based on the cabinet plenary meeting, the government has also set three outlooks regarding the situation in Gaza. First, Indonesia will initiate diplomatic communication efforts to cease the Israeli military attack on Palestine.

Second, Indonesia will also push the United Nations to call on cease fire between Palestina and Israel under direct U.N. supervision.

“Third, Indonesia will initiate diplomatic efforts to related countries,” Djoko said.

Marty confirmed Indonesia's commitment to helping the Palestinian authorities, on the condition that the assistance be for the sake of the people in Gaza Strip. The assistance will be in the form of food, medicine and daily needs.
