TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor Government is planning on revising the regional regulation on the distribution of alcoholic drinks. Bogor municipality secretary, Ade Syarif Hidayat, said to date, alcohol sellers who were caught during raids were merely mildly sanctioned "when in fact its impacts could be very dangerous and disadvantageous to the public," Ade Syarif said yesterday.
The Bogor city is merely implementing Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2006 on Public Disciplines; one of which is regulating the distribution of alcoholic drinks. "Perpetrators and sellers who violate the regulation will be sentenced with a light sanction - just by paying a fine of Rp50,000 or a minimum of three months in prison," said Ade Syarif.
With a new regional regulation on alcoholic drinks, heavier sanctions are expected to bring a deterrent effect on people who distribute alcoholic drinks.
