TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said on Monday, June 16, 2014, that he will solve the kidnapping of 13 pro-democracy activists during a meeting with volunteers from Surabaya. After the kidnapping is solved, it will then be decided whether there will be reconciliation or not.

Jokowi answered a question from Susan, a volunteer who asked Jokowi to solve the kidnappings if he becomes president. She said she was sad to see Fitri Nganthi Wani, the daughter of one of the kidnapped activists Wiji Thukul.

"I was really sad when my father died and I'm even sadder when I see Wiji Thukul's daughter," said Susan during the meeting.

Thirteen activists of the 1998 kidnapping who are still missing include Petrus Bima Anugreah, Herman Hendrawan, Suyat, Wiji Thukul, Yani Afri, Sonny, Dedi Hamdun, Noval Alkatiri, Ismail, Ucok Siahaan, Hendra Hambali, Yadin Muhidin and Abdun Nasser.
