TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former England midfielder Joe Cole has joined Aston Villa on a free transfer status, said the Premier League club on Tuesday, June 10 2014.

Cole, 32, signed a two-year deal with Villa after being released by West Ham United.

"This is a massive club and there's a massive opportunity for the club to push on," said Cole.

Cole said he’d been lucky enough to have a really good career but there's still a lot more that he wanted to achieve.

Cole, born in London on November 8, 1981, has won 56 times for England and scored 10 goals. He won three league titles with Chelsea club.

He joined Liverpool in 2010, but the stars could not shine brightly. He then spent the 2011-2012 season as a loan-player at French club Lille.

Cole is Villa's second signing of the close-season Premier League after Philippe Senderos on a free transfer from Valencia (Spain).
