Wiranto: Hanura No Longer an Opposition

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The People's Conscience Party (Hanura) chairman Wiranto said his party decided to no longer become an opposition and would participate in policy-making and the government.
"We will not stand idle and become spectators, but will step in the government system to participate in developing Indonesia," said Wiranto on Tuesday.
Hanura's national leaders meeting (Rapimnas) that will last until Wednesday is attended by hundreds of members of regional and central boards. The Rapimnas aims to determine the direction of Hanura's coalition ahead of presidential election in July. Wiranto said being an opposition with PDIP and Gerindra since 2009 is enough for Hanura.
Hanura has been labeled as a clean party after being an opposition, but it does not help the party gain full votes in the 2014 legislative election. "Many people did not give their votes for clean parties," he said.
Wiranto said the current political condition made it hard for Hanura to predict who would hold the government in the future. Therefore, he asked all Hanura cadres to make a smart and precise calculation to predict who would win the presidential election. "Now, there are four coalition axes that have emerged. This is not easy," he said.
