TEMPO.CO, Hong Kong - Tempo has won another award in the 2014 Asian Media Award held by the World Association of Newspaper and News Publisher (WAN-IFRA Asia Pacific) in Hong Kong yesterday. The bronze-medal award was given to the magazine’s October 21, 2013 edition with a cover titled "Kapolri Pilihan Cikeas".
The cover, designed by Tempo’s senior designer, Kendra Paramita, depicts the National Police Chief General Sutarman wearing oversized clothing, reflecting Tempo magazine’s main report that criticizes Sutarman’s appointment as the National Police Chief since many people doubt his credibility.
Tempo previously won gold and silver medals in the 2013 Asian Media Award in Bangalore, India. In 2011, www.tempo.co also won a silver medal for the best design of mobile media in the Asian Digital Media Award.
"We are proud of these achievements. Tempo magazine, Koran Tempo (Tempo Newspaper) and Tempo.co win awards from various national and international institutions almost every year. These achievements encourage Tempo crews to become better in innovating," said Daru Priyambodo, editor-in-chief of Tempo.co.
Leung Chun-ying, Chief Executive of Hong Kong, said in an opening speech at the Shangri-La Kowloon Hotel, Hong Kong, freedom of the press is the most important thing in the journalistic world. The freedom is not only recognized constitutionally, but also has become a cornerstone for the global society. "This is about the way of life," said Chun-ying.
