TEMPO.CO, Guangzhou - China is currently developing a building that will boast the world’s fastest lift. The lift, which is scheduled to be ready in 2016, will be able to travel 95 floors up in only 43 seconds.

Quoted from Daily Mail on Wednesday, April 23, 2014, the lift is at the Guangzhou CTF Financial Centre in Tianhe District, Guangzhou City, China.

The building, comprising 111 floors and five underground floors, will have 95 lifts, but only two that will have the super fast speed.

At the maximum speed, the lifts will travel in almost 1,200 meters per minute or equal with 70 kilometers per hour. However, when the lifts go down, the speed is slower, which is around 600 meters per minute or 36 kilometers per hour.

Hitachi, the company that develops the lift, said the lift was still safe and comfortable despite its tremendous speed. The lift is equipped with emergency braking and stopping system if the it travels too fast.

The brake has an exceptional heat resistance and has been claimed to be so strong that it will never be broken. Hitachi has also altered the air pressure inside the lift to avoid hurting ears from high pressure.
