TEMPO.CO, Kiev - The political crisis in Ukraine has escalated with a member of the interim Prime Minister’s political party and a civilian tortured and killed by pro-Russian militants.

Vladimir Rybak, a city councilor from eastern Ukrainian town Horlivka, was found dead in the separatist-controlled town of Sloviansk. Rybak's death is linked with a possible retaliation for the deaths of three pro-Russian men manning a roadblock over the weekend.

"The terrorists who effectively took the whole Donetsk region have gone too far," Ukrainian Interim President Oleksandr Turchynov said, as quoted by The Globe and Mail.

The Ukrainian government condemned the incident and ordered its troops to launch attacks against pro-Russian militants who are striving to take over the eastern part of Ukraine.

The United States and other western countries have accused Russia of masterminding the brutal attack by Russian-speaking Ukrainians.
