TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coalition of Child Education Organizers has urged the public not to consider all education institutions are terrible because of the news on the sexual abuse at Jakarta International School (JIS). The coalition's advocate, Ali Tanjung, claimed that education institutes have been victimized due to the scandal.

"Hundreds of students are about to be pulled out by their guardians because of the news," he said inJakarta, Saturday, April 19. The coalition that consists of the National Commission on State Apparatus Supervision, the Child Protection Taskforce, and the Bogor Legal Aid Institute, views the news is dangerous because it could make people to generalize the incident.

He is worried that it would impact on other education institutions, both early learning centres and other education levels. "Maybe JIS could defend themselves. But this is a bad example for all education institutions in Indonesia."

Ali gave an example, if a kindergarten with a small number of students was sued, the court will blame the school. "If the school was closed, then where will our students study?" he admitted the Coalition does not have the intention to defend JIS, they have not even communicated with the school. "We don't have any business with JIS. We will defend all education institutions (affected) by the news that makes all parties as victims."
