TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - About 10,000 of Jakarta Metro Police personnel deployed today to secure the celebrations of Easter Eve and Good Friday, as reported by Antara News.
Jakarta Metro Police Chief Insp. Gen. Dwi Priyanto stated that he want to secure any religious celebration and not to be disturbed in its procession. That is why he increased the amount of personnel deployed to secure today's celebration.
"The 10,000 personnel is one-third of our total personnel. We want everything to run well without any disturbance. For big churches like the Cathedral, we placed security officers, bomb squads, and metal detector personnel to examine visitors' belongings," he said.
Priyanto asserted that the security measures will be done by involving all ranks of Resort Police as well as Sector Police to secure the 1,129 churches in their jurisdictions.
