TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo admitted there had been mismanagement in the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) program, causing it to tap the wrong individuals.

“We have received the reports [about the mismanagement],” he said on Tuesday at the City Hall. Jokowi, however, said the mishap was minor and that there were only three cases out of 380,000.

“What important is that we will improve it,” he said.

Jokowi said he had also received reports about a small amount of illicit charges in the KJP implementation, but underscored the amount was not the case.

“Although it was relatively small, around Rp50,000, it was still illegal,” he added.

Earlier, Indonesia Corruption Watch coordinator of public service monitoring Febri Hendri revealed that 19.4 percent of KJP recipients were not qualified, based on several findings. Febri said the errors were attributable to poor data collection. Febri said many students receiving the cards did not meet the set criteria.
