TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bandung Culture and Tourism agency (Disbudpar) has prohibited night clubs and entertainment venues to operate on this Sunday and Monday. According to Bandung Disbudpar chief, Herlan JS, the closure is carried out for the convenience of the Hindu community during Nyepi on Monday, March 31.

The prohibition will start from Sunday, 18:00 local time until Monday, 18:00. The types of entertainment venues that are prohibited to operate, among others, are night clubs, pubs, massage parlours, spa resorts, discotheques, karaoke clubs, and others. "If they [entertainment enterprises] did not follow the regulation, they will be charged with administrative sanctions," he said, when he was contacted through the phone, Saturday, March 29.

The closure, he said, is written in Bandung Regional Regulation No. 7 of 2012, regarding the prohibition for a number of entertainment enterprises to operate during religious holidays.
