TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said on Thursday the implementation of the Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) program had to be delayed due to some regulation issues. Jokowi added the issues had been discussed with the Transportation Ministry so as to expedite the ERP implementation this year.
The tender for the ERIP is now being offered to companies and the winner will later cooperate with city enterprise Jakarta Communication.
The implementation of the ERP is based on a number of regulations, including Law No 22/2009 on traffic and Law No 28/2009 on regional revenue. Law number 28 has produced the Governmental Regulation No 97/2012 regarding Traffic Control Retribution.
Based on this regulation, every vehicle has to pay a certain amount of money to pass a road that uses the ERP. The payment is to be monitored by a device installed in each vehicle.
