TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government is going to follow up the case of 107 low-cost flats illegal renting in the capital. Allegedly, there are civil servants who have illegally rented the flats toward lower-middle class people.
The Jakarta Governor, Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, asserted that he would take decisive action if the practice was true. This is because the flat was dedicated to citizens affected by the normalization of rivers and dams. "If the news is true, I will follow up the culprits," he asserted, at City Hall.
He disclosed civil servant is supposed to provide a good service to the people, instead of monopolizing public service. "That means they do not serve the people seriously," he expressed.
Actually, civil servants cannot be dismissed. But after issuing the law of State Civil Apparatus (ASN), the local leaders have the right to dismiss them.
