TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) forecasted that investment in automotive business this year would not be as aggressive as last year. BPKM Head Mahendra Siregar predicted that the investment in automotive business will continue to grow in a moderate pace.
"Last year, automotive investment growth rate reached 120 percent. This year it will continue to grow, although it will not be as aggressive as last year," he said in Karawang yesterday.
Mahedra added that the investment growth this year would not exceed 100 percent because manufacturers had realized their investments last year. Therefore, the government is now focusing on infrastructure improvement projects. "Infrastructure improvement must be encouraged to attract investments, including in new ports construction," Mahendra added.
