TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo receives another spotlight as British Newspaper The Independent reviewed his political career on Sunday, January 27, 2014. James Ashton from The Independent wrote about his experience when taking a bike stroll with Jokowi. Ashton, who is the Chief of Business Section at The Independent, put a praising tagline, "On the road to power? Meet Joko Widodo, Indonesia's very own Boris Johnson."

Ashton, making a straight comparison to London's mayor Boris Johnson, wrote that Jokowi is a rise-to-fame governor in the political world in Indonesia. The media darling's popularity also endorsed many to believe that he deserves the place as the next presidential candidate.

Jokowi is said to have the ability to change Jakarta and make millions of people to a better change, such as bike-to-work habit. Ashton wrote that Jokowi's popularity exceeds that of other presidential candidates. Ashton also praised Jokowi, particularly for his out-of-office routine known as 'blusukan'.
