TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono summoned DKI Jakarta Governor Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to the Presidential Palace earlier today for a meeting on preparations revolving around the upcoming presidential elections.
Jokowi stated that the president placed an emphasis on the importance of security during the general elections. Jokowi denied assumptions that he and the president held talks over the possibility of him running for president next year.
The governor also refused to reveal any of his political party’s agenda and asserted, “Again, please ask Ibu Mega (Megawati Soekarnoputri) or PDI Perjuangan (the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle) about politics.”
